Mixed breed hunting dog "Sam" was surrendered to our animal shelter because his owners were overwhelmed by his behavior. At the former owners, he showed problematic behavior during dog encounters, with strangers and resources. Unfortunately, misunderstandings occurred during encounters due to incorrect instructions from his humans, and as a result, he has developed problems trusting his humans in encounter situations. He lacked a stable, confident person by his side. At our animal shelter, he shows avoidance behavior in almost every situation. That means, when he has space, he avoids conflicts. "Sam" is looking for experienced people who can provide him with security and dog-appropriate rules in daily life. We are working on his issues and he has already made some progress. We would strongly recommend having a trainer accompany him during the adoption. We would rather not recommend living with small children. We are aware that "Sam" comes with a lot of problems, but we still hope that a suitable home will be found for him.

Jagdhund-Mischling „Sam“ wurde bei uns im Tierheim abgegeben, weil seine Besitzer mit seinem Verhalten überfordert waren. Bei den ehemaligen Besitzern zeige er Problemverhalten bei Hundebegegnungen, fremden Menschen und Ressourcen. Es kam leider durch falsche Anleitung von seinen Menschen zu Missverständnissen bei Begegnungen und dadurch hat er leider Probleme in Begegnungssituationen seinen Menschen zu vertrauen. Ihm fehlte ein stabiler, souveräner Mensch an seiner Seite. Bei uns im Tierheim zeigt er fast in jeder Situation Meideverhalten. Das heißt, wenn er Platz hat, geht er Konflikten aus dem Weg. Sam sucht erfahrene Menschen, die ihm Sicherheit und hundegerechte Regeln im Alltag beibringen. Wir arbeiten mit ihm an seinen Baustellen und er hat bei uns schon einige Fortschritte gemacht. Wir würden bei einer Übernahme, einen Trainer als Begleitung sehr empfehlen. Ein Zusammenleben mit kleineren Kindern würden wir eher nicht empfehlen. Wir sind uns bewusst, dass Sam ein großes Päckchen an Problemen mit sich bringt, hoffen dennoch, dass sich auch für ihn ein geeignetes Zuhause finden wird.
