Adopt Sansa

Dogo Argentino · Female · Senior · 9 years

Breed: Dogo Argentino Color: White Age: September 12, 2017 Gender: Female Spayed: Yes Reason for surrender: changed living situation Personality: Sansa is a gentle lady. She chooses her people herself, to whom she would like more contact. She likes her cozy beds, and in the new home, she will also enjoy the sofa. However, she does not share it. Outdoors, she is content to be around, which is still a challenge when she cannot avoid dog encounters. Food is sacred to her, and she would like to do it all day. Unfortunately, the sweet one cannot eat everything, as she is an allergy sufferer. Sansa cannot form much of a bond with other dogs, where mutual liking is key. She does not get along with small dogs at all. We do not see Sansa living with another dog in the same home. The visit to the vet and body checks via the shelter staff are not at all to her liking, and she shows this with defensive behavior. Despite medical training, this has not improved much, and for more detailed examinations, Sansa must be sedated. Which dog owners; we are looking for for Sansa: In the new home, there must be no children or other pets or dogs. One needs a lot of patience, time, and understanding for her quirks. The new owners should be interested in dog training classes that are based on positive cooperation. The new owners should have experience with challenging dogs and know their needs, and ideally, they also have an understanding and willingness to work with the breed and possibly a muzzle. We would be happy if you could clarify this process. Would you like to meet Sansa and give her a home? You are welcome to call us to arrange a meeting. Country of origin (where the dog is currently located): Switzerland Stud country: Italy Contact address: this breed Shelter Paradise, Kernserstrasse 68, 6372 Ennetmoos Monday to Friday: 9-11 AM and 3-4 PM / Saturday: 3-4 PM

Rasse: Dogo Argentino Farbe: Weiss Alter: 12. About Sansa

What life with Sansa looks like

Sansa is a medium-sized senior dogo argentino dog waiting at Berner Tierzentrum in Switzerland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sansa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sansa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Berner Tierzentrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sansa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sansa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Berner Tierzentrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sansa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sansa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Berner Tierzentrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sansa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
