Adopt Saphira

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 5 months

Saphira – a gentle soul looking for a home. Saphira is a small, delicate female dog with a very sensitive perception of her surroundings. Together with her siblings Perl, Sterling, Jade and Coral as well as her mother, she spent her first weeks of life as a stray on Aegina – a time that has left its mark, but also shaped her loving character. She has now taken the first important step towards a secure life and is currently in the animal shelter after previously being in a foster home. Her mother has already found her happiness and was adopted – now Saphira is waiting for her own home. Among her siblings, Saphira is the most sensitive, smallest and gentlest. She cautiously observes new people at first with curious eyes, as if trying to understand whether she can trust them. But once she realizes that nothing bad is going to happen to her, she quickly shows her incredible loving side. Then she becomes a cuddly, sweet companion who enjoys the company of her humans and likes to lean on them. Saphira loves to play – both with her siblings and with toys – and brings along a calm, balanced energy. She does not push herself forward, but rather waits and then finds her place. That is why she needs people who give her the time to arrive at her own pace and build trust. An existing dog would certainly help her feel more secure and find orientation faster. Whoever gives Saphira a home will receive a particularly fine, loving female dog who will grow into a loyal companion for life with patience and affection. Saphira is waiting to give her heart – maybe just to you. The animals are described as they behave in the animal shelter or in the foster home. This behavior is not shown immediately upon arrival. Some react with initial shyness to the new situation. Animals from the animal shelter all have a past, which was often unpleasant or cruel. This past cannot be shaken off overnight. They need time to arrive and build trust. Please be patient and give your animal the necessary time!

About Saphira

What life with Saphira looks like

Saphira is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina in Berlin.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Saphira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Saphira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Saphira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Saphira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Saphira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Saphira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina early rather than rehoming privately; they know Saphira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
