Sara - 9

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

She is a very calm and balanced dog. She doesn't fit in with the group of dogs in the shelter. She keeps her distance from them. Unfortunately, there is no other place, the shelter is full. She doesn't feel comfortable there. She is a very friendly and sweet dog. She is not playful or energetic. If you come close to her and pet her, she will enjoy it, but she won't ask to be petted herself. She won't bother you in any way. She can be invisible and peaceful. (We would like to add that a dog can behave differently in a shelter than in a home where the animal receives full attention, good food, warmth, and stability). Someone just left Sara at the shelter. She has been waiting there, outside the shelter. She probably waited for the same person to take her home again. She is very likely a house dog that was unwanted and abandoned by the people. Adoption fee includes vaccinations, microchip, rabies, European passport, and spay/neuter.

NL·Show original

Sara is inmiddels in Nederland. Ze heeft het zwaar gehad in het asiel. ha

About Sara - 9

What life with Sara - 9 looks like

Sara - 9 is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Stichting Zilver in —.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sara - 9, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sara - 9?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Zilver handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sara - 9 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sara - 9 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Zilver will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Sara - 9 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sara - 9 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Zilver early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sara - 9 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
