Adopt Saro

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Age: Born around 2021 Gender: male neutered: yes Character: friendly, calm Size: approx. 48 cm In shelter since: January 2022 Siblings: Yang, Spot, Mila B, and Marie – all already relocated Hello World, here I come, Saro! I am on the lookout for my family and would like to tell you a little about myself. I arrived here at the shelter not long ago, always accompanied by my four siblings. We were not the bravest and I must say, we would have preferred to be invisible. But it seems there are people who are not deterred and want to see beyond the facade. My two sisters and my two brothers were allowed to travel to their families in the past months, who have vowed to win their hearts with patience and love. And what about me? My heart also wants to be won over. I can certainly say that despite the challenging circumstances here, I have worked on myself. I no longer flinch when people approach and I do not hide anymore. I am a curious fellow and maybe it’s not so bad to give you a chance. I am definitely ready for the big step and would love to have the chance to become part of a family, to give my heart to. Feel free to contact us, my suitcases are packed! If you are interested in Saro, please fill out our interest form or send us an email or message on Facebook. Saro is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months of age, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, and leishmaniasis. The sponsorship for Saro has been taken over by Marion and Dieter P., and they ensure a full plate. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

About Saro

What life with Saro looks like

Saro is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Saro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Saro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Saro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Saro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Saro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Saro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Saro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
