adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Sassi has found her people! Her story: Bistrita, Romania. Caution: Sugar shock! Sassi, Franzi, Lea, Fred, Gusto, Faxe, and Medi were taken into our care together with their mother, Lycka, from an auto shop. They were born there, where Lycka lived with six other dogs and three cats. The shop staff asked us for help with the spaying of the animals and to take care of the puppies. Therefore, the family was taken into our care. Sassi, with her very interesting fur pattern and spotted nose, is now on the lookout for her own home as soon as she has all her vaccinations. She is very friendly, likes other dogs, and also knows cats. Currently, she measures about 50 cm and weighs 20 kg and will grow accordingly. From the appearance of her mother, it could be that Sassi is a mix of a herding dog and a herding guard dog. One should therefore familiarize themselves with the characteristics of such a breed and consider whether the dog fits into the personal environment. Herding guard dogs are not city or office dogs. It would be great for her to have a large property where she can guard. Since the territory of a herding guard dog extends as far as they can see, the property should be fenced to show her her territory boundaries. Herding guard dogs are independent personalities that require the owner to have consistency and empathy and the ability to deal with an intelligent, independent, large dog. They bring many great qualities. People who already have experience with herding guard dogs do not want any other breeds because, despite their thick skulls, they are very loyal and faithful companions. Sassi is looking for people who are not expecting anything from her and who can show her how normal dog life works. She is still a baby and has a lot to learn. One or two mishaps should not be held against her, and Sassi should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. She is looking forward to her new life with nature walks, lots of cuddle time, and a visit to puppy school. Puppies should not be left alone as much as possible in their first year of life. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of the little rascals upside down. They often forget everything they have learned so far, and their ears are on full blast. Therefore, it is especially important to train consistently but lovingly during this phase. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Sassi travels microchipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and dewormed together with her EU pet passport into her new life. Many thanks to Sunny W.! You gave the razzle-dazzle gang their names!

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Sassi hat ihre Menschen gefunden! Ihre Geschichte: Bistrita, Rumänien. Achtung Zuckerschock! Vielen Dank Sunny W.! Du hast der Rasselbande ihre Namen geschenkt!

About Sassi

What life with Sassi looks like

Sassi is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sassi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sassi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sassi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sassi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sassi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sassi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sassi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
