Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Profile: Born in 2021, Gender: male, neutered: yes, Character: very friendly, calm, Size: approx. 45 cm, In shelter since: May 2022, Special features: shortened tail, Family: siblings Era, Jack, Sinchen, Bruno – all already relocated Hey you, yes YOU! I am Scooby and have just put on my particularly sweet look for you. I heard that if you look especially cute in the camera, people won't just scroll past and you have a better chance of finding your own home. I landed in the shelter with my siblings. Here we are well cared for and have a safe place to sleep, but growing up, that was never what I wanted. Now that I'm an adult, I wish for people who will be good to me. I'm sure I'll need some time to find my footing in my new life. But with a little patience and a whole lot of love, we'll get through it together. I want to experience adventures, learn the doggy ABC, and cuddle a whole lot. What do you get from me? My unconditional love! Sounds like a good deal, doesn't it? Then get in touch with me! If you're interested in Scooby, please fill out our Prospective Owner Form () or send us an email or a message on Facebook. Scooby is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs are neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months old, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, and leishmaniasis. Tanja M. has taken on the sponsorship for Scooby and ensures a full plate. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

Meine bedingungslose Liebe!

About Scooby

What life with Scooby looks like

Scooby is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Scooby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Scooby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Scooby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Scooby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Scooby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Scooby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Scooby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
