Scrabble

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Female · Puppy · 3 months

Scrabble is a young puppy who will need a family with plenty of time and patience to help her settle into her new home. She’s enjoying life with dogs and cats in her foster home, so her new family will need to continue giving her lots of positive experiences as she grows and learns. As with any puppy, Scrabble will need to continue with her training, including house training, learning to walk nicely on a lead and developing her life skills. She’ll also need someone around for most of the day to begin with, as any time alone will need to be built up gradually. If you think Scrabble could be your perfect companion, please submit an application and don't forget to "favourite" her! Say hello to Scrabble, a 14-week-old Staffie X who is currently being spoilt in a foster home while she waits for her forever family! Scrabble is at the fun-filled stage of puppyhood where everything is new and exciting. She’s enjoying getting to know the world around her from the comfort of her foster home and, like any puppy, has plenty of growing, learning and exploring still to do. Scrabble has been enjoying spending time playing with the dogs and cats in her foster home before settling down for a well-deserved nap on the sofa with her foster carers. She’s making the most of all the cuddles and attention while she continues to learn about the world around her. Being such a young pup, Scrabble will need her new family to continue helping her learn as she grows. With plenty of patience, encouragement and positive experiences, she’ll be able to grow into a happy and confident companion.

About Scrabble

What life with Scrabble looks like

Scrabble is a puppy/kitten staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Ballymena in Ballymena.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Scrabble, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Scrabble?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Ballymena handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Scrabble on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Scrabble if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Ballymena will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Scrabble already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Scrabble isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Ballymena early rather than rehoming privately; they know Scrabble and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
