Shadow

Labrador Retriever Β· Male Β· Young Β· 2 years

This dog is being rehomed through our Homestay scheme, staying with their current owner until a new home is found. At the point of adoption, ownership briefly transfers to Dogs Trust and then to the new family. Homestay helps avoid the stress of kennels and allows the dog to remain settled at home. In rare cases, the current owner may withdraw. While we work hard to reduce this risk, it can happen. If it does, Dogs Trust will support potential adopters by prioritizing them for another suitable dog. Meet Shadow and Coco, two gorgeous 2-year-old Labradors who are looking for their special forever home. Both Shadow and Coco are hoping to find a loving family who can welcome them into their home and give them the happy future they deserve. They have previous home experience and have both lived with children before, where they have been absolutely fine. They could therefore potentially live in a home with children of any age after a successful meet at the centre. Both Shadow and Coco are fully housetrained and are good to travel. They absolutely love getting out and about, exploring the world and enjoying new adventures, so a home that enjoys walks and outdoor activities would be ideal! They are both fans of a good fuss and plenty of attention, and who doesn't love a toy or two? They enjoy having things to keep them entertained and would love a family who will spoil them with affection, playtime and adventures. They already know a few basic commands but would love the opportunity to learn more. Continuing their training would be a lovely way for their new family to bond with them and help them develop even further. They could potentially live with another dog in the home, subject to a successful meet at the centre. We are looking for a loving, caring and responsible home that understands the needs of Labradors and can offer them the time, attention, exercise and affection they deserve.

About Shadow

What life with Shadow looks like

Shadow is a young adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Dogs Trust Kenilworth in Kenilworth.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shadow, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shadow?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Kenilworth handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shadow on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shadow if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Kenilworth will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Shadow already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shadow isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Kenilworth early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shadow and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
