Sheila

Female · Senior · 10 years

Sheila was taken from inappropriate conditions, where a person certainly did not deserve her trust. So today Sheila is taking her time. She is slightly distrustful, but once she lets you in... it's worth it. Suddenly you will find out that next to you lies an incredible kind, friendly and grateful dog lady who enjoys every stroke, every moment together... and especially every bite. Yes, Sheila is a big food lover. Treat? Always. Another treat? Even better. She is an older lady, so don't expect any wild marathons. However, she can behave well on a leash, but otherwise is obedient and well-behaved. Regarding dog company, it's a bit more complicated - Sheila is picky and doesn't get along with female dog. Cats are also not her thing. However, she has no problems with people, including children. She could easily keep company to older people looking for a faithful partner for a calmer lifestyle. She can live in an apartment or in a yard - as long as she has her peace and her person. She has a small lump on the mammary gland which would be addressed together with spaying. It's nothing that would prevent her from enjoying life right now - and she finally deserves to enjoy it fully. Sheila is not a "perfect dog". But she is real. With her past, her caution... and a huge ability to give love to whoever deserves it. And maybe precisely for this reason she is so special.

CS·Show original

About Sheila

What life with Sheila looks like

Sheila is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Útulek Přerov in Přerov-Přerov 2.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Czech shelters (útulky) include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID. The adopter signs a written contract (smlouva) — the shelter may follow up to verify wellbeing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sheila, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sheila?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Útulek Přerov handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sheila on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sheila if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Útulek Přerov will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sheila already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sheila isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Útulek Přerov early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sheila and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
