adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this cat! Smushy Shiba yearns for a family that can offer her many cuddles. Shiba is just about 6 months old and had a tough start in life. She and her 4 siblings were given to our animal shelters when they were in the process of neutering a larger colony of cats around a block in Cluj. The 5 kittens were undernourished, full of parasites and ear mites, and also quite sick with colds. Treatment for the siblings took several weeks, but eventually they recovered from their illnesses and were taken in by our foster home, where they now wait for their new families. Despite these trials, Shiba is very cuddly and playful. At first, she is a bit reserved with strangers, but this soon fades once her heart is won over with cuddles or she is coaxed out of her shell with toys. She likes to sit on laps and often sleeps next to "her" people. Additionally, she loves soft, warm spots to snuggle and sleep in. Shiba gets along well with her fellow animals. She lived with her siblings from the start and later in the foster home with other cats, where everything always ran smoothly. As she is still so young and very social, we do not want to place her in single housing. However, too many cats should not be waiting in her new home, as she will "disappear" because she is not pushy and does not want to be in the forefront. After a proper settling-in period, Shiba could enjoy a secure roam, such as in a secure garden or a secure terrace/a networked balcony. This is not a must, as she has already adapted to apartment living. The young female cat can start her journey to her new home right away and is already microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. Additionally, she has tested negative for FIV and FeLV and comes with an EU pet passport. Thank you to Natalie P. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Shiba

What life with Shiba looks like

Shiba is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shiba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shiba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shiba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shiba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shiba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shiba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shiba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
