Shoko

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 6 months

Shoko was born around 08/2026 and is currently about 12 cm tall and weighs roughly 1.5 kg (as of 18.10.2026). Together with his mother Suli and his siblings Shicco, Sterling and Sophia, this little puppy was rescued in the Romanian Danube Delta. There, unwanted puppies are put into containers by some residents and taken to remote, floating islands in the delta. Surrounded by water and without access to food, these helpless puppies have hardly any chance of survival. Shoko and his family could also have faced such a fate. Fortunately, they were rescued in time and brought to safety. Now little Shoko can hope for a future full of love and security. Shoko is a particularly friendly and very sociable little puppy who charms everyone with his lovable nature. He is open and curious and wants to discover the world. As is only fitting for a young puppy, he is full of joy in exploring. Playing, romping around, getting to know new things and cuddling extensively in between – all of this is to become part of his everyday life. He is very compatible with his fellow dogs and enjoys the company of other dogs. His positive and sociable nature makes him a charming little companion who still wants to learn and experience a great deal. For Shoko, we wish for loving people who will give him a safe home and patiently accompany him on his way into adulthood. People who enjoy showing a young dog the world, playing with him, teaching him and giving him the security he needs. Of course, Shoko still has to learn the basics of dog life. House training, leash walking and the many small challenges of everyday life will be mastered together with loving consistency, patience and time. Little Shoko did not have an easy start in life. But now his future lies ahead of him, and we sincerely hope that he will soon experience how wonderful a life as a beloved family member can be. Who will fall in love with our charming Shoko and give him a loving home in which he can grow up safe and happy? We look forward to your inquiry! He has been examined by a veterinarian, dewormed, treated for fleas, microchipped, vaccinated and tested for Mediterranean diseases including leishmaniasis, and has an EU pet passport and Traces. He is still too young for neutering. The adoption fee is €595.

About Shoko

What life with Shoko looks like

Shoko is a small puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Tierrettung International e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shoko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shoko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierrettung International e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shoko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shoko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierrettung International e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Shoko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shoko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierrettung International e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shoko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
