Sia

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Sia is a neutered mixed-breed female puppy born in 2024, who was found roaming with the female puppy Sophie and the three puppies Spike, Storm, and Shadow. She is now ready to travel and is waiting for a patient family! Sia presents herself as a calm, balanced, and rather laid-back dog in the animal shelter. Even when all the dogs in the shelter are barking around her, she still lies calmly on her sunny spot and watches serenely what's happening. She is very people-oriented, seeks closeness, and enjoys petting very much. Attention and affection mean a lot to her. The pretty puppy can be easily motivated with treats and already knows some commands like sit, stay, and turn. However, she is not particularly interested in toys at the moment. It is important to let Sia settle down in peace and give her the necessary time and security. She may snap when lifted, so she should not be simply carried or crowded. When interacting with other dogs, she can react jealousy in certain situations, especially in the enclosure when other dogs get attention. Therefore, she would rather be a single princess in her future home. It is not known how she reacts to cats and other animals. We wish for Sia a quiet, loving home where she can arrive and get a lot of human closeness. People who respect her needs, give her security, and enjoy working with her could be just the right ones for the little puppy. However, small children should not be in the new home. The shoulder height is 36 cm and she weighs about 12 kg.

About Sia

What life with Sia looks like

Sia is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
