Sian

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 13 years

September 2025 Beautiful Sian turns 8 in November and is looking for a new home because her elderly owners have had several incidents where they’ve been knocked over by Sian when letting her out of her kennel due to her enthusiasm. Sian has spent her life until recently in the kennel with another 13 year old female Labrador for company. But she’s now moved to lovely family members where she’s learning about indoor rules etc. it’s all new for her and a lot to get used to, but she’s picking it up very quickly they have already managed to stop her jumping up onto them (most of the time), she now gets to bed on command, sits.,etc. She is very food orientated which has helped with positive reinforcement. Sadly the two resident dogs haven’t welcomed Sian so instead of a nice calm environment it’s getting quite stressful for the family. Sian is around 24kg after initially being overweight she’s sliming down with the extra exercise. She’s fine to be around cats having been around several at the small holding as well as ducks, Guinea fowl, livestock etc and even a fox that was rescued and rehabilitated but decided to stick around his home when he was healthy again. Sian is wonderful around the families children of all ages and any visitors that arrive, she still gets excited and bouncy and does struggle to contain her excitement but does then calm down when she’s said hello and had some fuss. Sian can pull on the lead so a Halti or a Dogmatic could help with that, she’s also been great with all the dogs she’s met and the family don’t think there would be an issue if she needed to be walked by a trusted dog-walker. Sian has no medical problems that they are aware of and isn’t yet neutered (which would be done by us as part of our adoption contract)her booster was done June 2025, which is when she had her last check up. Her toilet training has come along very well considering she’s only been in a home for such a short space of time. She was always clean in her kennel which has helped. She can be left a few hours in the porch by herself and overnight, but would definitely rather be with her people. Her owners used to let her run in their fields and recalled her with a dog whistle, but being a built up area now the couple haven’t let her off and prefer to keep her on a long line. Sian also travels wonderfully and will just snooze peacefully for the journey. Sian is currently in the Pontypool area and will be rehomed with her 5 weeks free Agria Insurance and her Adoption Contract. If you feel you can give this loving girl the patients that she will need while continuing to introduce her to the outside world please contact us. About Sian

What life with Sian looks like

Sian is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at GSP Rescue UK in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sian, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sian?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. GSP Rescue UK handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sian on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sian if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — GSP Rescue UK will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sian already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sian isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with GSP Rescue UK early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sian and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
