Adopt Silly

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

When traveling in Sardinia, it's easy to encounter stray animals and theoretically, one has two options: ignore them or help. But if one is active in animal welfare, there's really no choice. And so, these two female dogs—likely mother and daughter—were fortunate enough to meet members of proTier. They arrived at the large grounds that belonged to the holiday house, with the mother in front and the little daughter behind. And they clearly showed they intended to stay. With nothing but wide open land around, where wild boars also appeared in the evenings, they were not turned away. Both were quite friendly but very unkempt. They immediately followed into the house, where they greedily devoured the offered food and gratefully accepted the water. Up close, it became clear, especially the puppy was in a terrible condition: its back without fur and bloodied, obviously due to a severe flea infestation. It's certain that no one had ever properly cared for them. Who knows how long they had been on the road. After they were full, several ticks were removed from them, and their ears were cleaned. Then, they were given a bath because they stank terribly. The two female dogs cooperated bravely and were very pleased with the affection. They didn't want to go outside anymore and were allowed to stay in the house overnight. Of course, the two received names: the mother was named Silly, and the daughter was called Sole. The next morning, Silly and Sole were brought to our partner in Stintino, where we met them at the beginning of September. Silly and Sole had both recovered well; Sole's back was almost fully covered with new fur. During our photo session, both were very unreserved, friendly, and lively. For Silly and Sole, the stay in the rescue should be of as short a duration as possible. We wish the two lovable female dogs a happy journey to Germany and hope they can find their forever home here. Maybe with you? Silly was able to travel to her German foster home. November 17, 2025: The friendly Silly has already been living in her German foster home for a few weeks and has already learned many things. She is house-trained, travels easily by car, and is a very pleasant companion in all situations. Silly loves long walks in nature but is just as city-friendly and has no problems with the hustle and bustle in the city park and on the street. The active female dog wants to experience the outdoors, finds carrying very exciting, and shows a great willingness to learn. Inside, she is a very clingy and cuddly female dog. Silly wants to live very closely with her people and would most like to lie next to her foster parent with body contact. She forms a deep and trusting bond with trusted people. In a familiar environment in the foster home, she can stay alone at home for a certain period. But Silly would most like to always be with her, whether to the office or restaurant, as long as she can accompany her people. We are looking for people with a lot of time and engagement for the clever female dog. The self-assured Silly doesn't necessarily need another dog in her new home but is generally well-mannered. Her familiar person is her everything. So, if you value an intelligent, absolutely cuddly female dog as a constant companion and want to share your sofa with a snout, you will find the right match in Silly. If you are interested in the loving Silly, we look forward to your contact.

About Silly

What life with Silly looks like

Silly is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Silly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Silly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Silly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Silly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Silly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Silly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Silly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
