Silo

Male · Adult · 8 years

Silo and his companion Sansa were rescued from the Perrera Resur in Linares. They are currently at a nearby dog boarding facility. Silo is with his canine friend Sansa in the same accommodation; we are looking for a suitable, appropriate home for both of them together. Silo is an energetic herding mix, probably with Border Collie, who enjoys moving around and needs plenty of space. He is large and strong but also friendly and compatible with people and other dogs. With Sansa and Silo, you have two powerhouses with their special needs. As difficult as it may be, we still hope to find a suitable place where the two can live forever in good conditions. We are looking for a home in rural areas with a farm or garden that is completely securely fenced. The adopters should have experience with the breed and the environment must be designed accordingly. Before acquiring one or more herding dogs, you need to acquire knowledge and possibly already have experience; the living conditions must be optimized (everything must be high enough, stable and secure). Herding dogs must guard and defend flocks in their country of origin; they decide for themselves what to do, working day and night. In Spain, these dogs are often also used as watchdogs because they excel at it. Half-hearted attempts at training will hardly be accepted and time and commitment need to be invested to meet the needs of such a dog here. Unfortunately, they can often not survive in their home country; that is why we try to help at least some dogs of this great breed. Would you like to give Silo and Sansa a caring home together? Please send your completed self-assessment form to Silo is about 65cm tall. If you would like to provide a caring home, please send your completed self-assessment form to The adoption fee is €500.

About Silo

What life with Silo looks like

Silo is a adult dog waiting at Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Silo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Silo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Silo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Silo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Silo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Silo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Silo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
