Simba

Mixed Breed Β· Unknown Β· Young Β· 3 years

Meet Simba, a lively and confident boy with lots of personality, who will need an experienced home to help him continue his journey. ⚧️ Sex: Male πŸŽ‚ Age: Approx. 3 years old 🦴 Breed: Dachshund Mix πŸ“ Size: Small – Medium 🐱 Cat friendly: No πŸ• Dog friendly: No πŸ‘Ά Child friendly: No ⚑ Energy level: High 🏑 Ideal home: A loving, experienced, adult-only home with adopters who can provide structure, patience and ongoing training 🐾 Personality & Temperament 🐾 Simba is an energetic, confident and intelligent boy with lots of personality. He is a cheeky, fun and happy character who is incredibly lovable. He is a small but sturdy boy with plenty of character and is always eager to interact with people. He loves attention and being stroked and is a really fun boy to be around! He has a high energy level and absolutely loves his walks. He enjoys being outdoors, exploring and sniffing his surroundings. He has a strong prey drive and is very interested in insects, lizards and other small moving things, which he will try to chase. Because of this, Simba cannot live with cats and his prey drive will need to be managed carefully in his new home. Simba also loves to bark and is very funny and entertaining. He has so much character and personality, and the experienced team who care for him have grown very fond of him. He is a wonderful dog who is very much loved by the people who know him well. Simba is intelligent and enjoys learning, especially when food is involved. When food is given by hand or used as part of a game, he responds very well. We are working with him every day on his resource guarding and are continuing to help him learn positive ways of interacting around food. However, his resource guarding does need to be taken seriously. Simba may guard leftover food in his bowl and will growl and clearly warn people not to approach while he is eating. He must be left completely alone while eating, and his future adopter will need to understand how to safely manage

About Simba

What life with Simba looks like

Simba is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Whispaws Animal Sanctuary in Serbia (UK-managed).

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡·πŸ‡ΈAdopting from Serbia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country β€” confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Simba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Simba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Whispaws Animal Sanctuary handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Simba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Simba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Whispaws Animal Sanctuary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Simba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Simba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Whispaws Animal Sanctuary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Simba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SR). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
