Adopt Simon

Male

Hi everyone! My name is Simon, My personality: I am a lovely boy who is a little shy at first, but I am getting braver as the days go on. I see my sister Sally being brave and this helps with my confidence. When I do come out to see you I love head rubs and I do the best purrs. I love to play especially with fishing rod toys and dangly things. My ideal home: I would love a home where people are around often to play and spend time with me and my sister. I am happy living with my sister and I could potentially live with other cats with slow introductions of course. I would also be happy living with children, especially ones who would love to play with me. I am not sure if I would like any dog friends, but it could potentially be an option with slow introductions. Access to outdoors: I would love access to the outdoors once I have settled in. Toileting: I am litter trained, I prefer wood chip litter. Did you know: British shorthair cats are the most popular cat breed in the UK. My adoption fee is £300 with my sister Sally.

About Simon

What life with Simon looks like

Simon is a adult cat waiting at Rain Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Simon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Simon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rain Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Simon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Simon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rain Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Simon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Simon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rain Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Simon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
