Sitka

Unknown Β· Kitten Β· 4 months

Sitka is a beautiful tortoiseshell cat with an estimated birth date of June 22, 2026. She was brought to the shelter on August 4th, very sick and homeless. She spent a long time in quarantine but has since recovered well. This lovely lady is now looking for a forever home where she can continue to thrive. In her foster home, Sitka has developed into a very social, affectionate and adventurous cat. She is curious and loves to explore, as there is always something new to discover! Between her adventures, she loves to seek out her humans for attention and cuddles. Sitka has chronic sneezing disease. This can cause her to sneeze, have a runny nose or inflamed eyes from time to time. Her symptoms can increase when she is stressed or her resistance is lowered. She has recovered well and enjoys playing, exploring and cuddling. When her symptoms flare up, she may need some extra care or treatment. Even when Sitka herself has few symptoms, she can still infect other cats. Living with another cat is possible, but it is important that the other cat is well vaccinated. Vaccination reduces the severity of the disease, but does not completely prevent infection. The usual cat sneezing disease viruses are not contagious to dogs or humans. Due to her chronic sneezing disease, we are looking for a home for Sitka where she can stay indoors. She can still get some fresh air in a cat run, well-secured garden or on a secure balcony, where she cannot come into contact with cats from the neighborhood. Sitka gets along well with other cats, dogs and children. We are looking for a loving home with plenty of company, where she can be herself. With her affectionate character and curious nose, she brings a lot of joy! Sitka is fully vaccinated, but not yet spayed. Upon adoption, you will receive a voucher for her spaying at a veterinarian affiliated with Hokazo. Do you have a nice place for this affectionate adventurer? Then fill out the form below and who knows, Sitka may find her golden basket with you! If there is a mutual click, she can be placed immediately.

About Sitka

What life with Sitka looks like

Sitka is a kitten cat waiting at Hokazo in Uden.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months β€” most shelters arrange this before adoption.

πŸ‡³πŸ‡±Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sitka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sitka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hokazo handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sitka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sitka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Hokazo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Sitka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sitka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hokazo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sitka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
