Skittles

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Hello! I’m Skittles, a clever, energetic Labradoodle with a big personality and a brain that’s always ready for something new. I love to learn, so I’m looking for a special someone who enjoys training and can help me channel all my enthusiasm into becoming the very best version of myself. 🧡 I’m a bouncy, excitable boy who sometimes needs a little help remembering my manners. I’m looking for an experienced, committed owner who understands the importance of patience, consistency and positive training. If you enjoy teaching new skills, keeping an active mind busy and celebrating those little training wins, we could make a brilliant team! I’m looking for an adult-only home with no visiting children, where my needs are understood and I can have a calm, predictable environment to help me thrive. I’ll also need a cat-free home. I may be able to share my space with a similar-sized dog, but this would depend on a successful match here at the North Lincolnshire centre. I’d love my new family to be home most of the time while I settle in. With patience and gradual training, I may be able to build up to spending a couple of hours alone. As a smart boy with plenty of energy, I’ll need more than just a walk around the block. I’m looking for someone who can give me both physical exercise and mental stimulation, with reward-based training, enrichment and clear, consistent guidance. An owner who enjoys working with their dog and understands the importance of structure and boundaries would be just my cup of tea! I know I’m not the right boy for every home, but I have so much potential and would love the chance to shine with the right person by my side. I need a committed family who will take the time to understand me, guide me and help me succeed. Could you be the person to help me become the very best version of myself? If you’re ready for an intelligent, energetic companion and enjoy a training challenge, I’d love for you to click the link below Love and tail wags, Skittles 🐾💛

About Skittles

What life with Skittles looks like

Skittles is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Jerry Green Dog Rescue in Lincoln.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Skittles, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Skittles?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Jerry Green Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Skittles on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Skittles if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Jerry Green Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Skittles already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Skittles isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Jerry Green Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Skittles and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
