Adopt Skrzeczyk

Male · Senior · 11 years

Skrzeczyk has one, and actually two life missions: more treats and even more petting. To achieve them, he uses his secret weapon - characteristic, loud meows, which can effectively draw attention to himself. He is a true chatty cat and a big lover of human contact. Although he can be a bit shy at times, he quickly opens up and shows his friendly, affectionate nature. Skrzeczyk is about 10 years old and has been through a lot in his life - it's visible from his slim body and signs of homelessness. Despite a difficult past, he hasn't lost his trust in people or his courage. On the contrary - he still seeks closeness and attention. Being in a cage really frustrates him. It's clear that he's full of energy and needs to be close to a person. This is a cat who will best find his place in a home where he can function freely and build a relationship with his caregiver. The health status of Skrzeczyk has positive results for FIV and FeLV tests, which means that he requires a responsible and aware home. He can live as an only cat or in the company of other FIV+ and FeLV+ cats. These viruses do not pose a threat to humans or other animal species. Additionally, for several months he has been suffering from a fungal infection. Unfortunately, in shelter conditions the disease cannot be effectively cured, and its course has caused the loss of his beautiful fur. Only home conditions, calmness and proper care give a real chance for recovery. What kind of home are we looking for? Skrzeczyk primarily needs a stable, quiet and loving home. One where he can feel safe and fully cared for. We are looking for a caregiver who understands his health needs and is ready to provide him with proper care. This is a cat who will quickly repay the care shown to him. In the right conditions, he has a chance to regain his strength and become a beautiful, dignified tomcat again. Meet Skrzeczyk and give him a chance for a new, better life. We suggest reviewing the pre-adoption questionnaire and coming to the animal shelter with the form already filled out: Attention: If you decide to adopt a cat or are considering it, be sure to bring a carrier or transport bag for transporting cats to the animal shelter. Before adoption, make sure your home/apartment is safe and properly prepared to welcome a new family member. Remember to secure windows and balcony.

Skrzeczyk ma jedną, a właściwie dwie życiowe misje: więcej smaczków i jeszcze więcej głaskania. Aby je osiągnąć, używa swojej tajnej broni – charakterystycznych, skrzekliwych miauków, którymi potrafi skutecznie zwrócić na siebie uwagę. To prawdziwy koci gaduła i ogromny miłośnik kontaktu z człowiekiem. Wręcz przeciwnie – wciąż szuka bliskości i uwagi. Pobyt w klatce bardzo go frustruje. Widać, że rozpiera go energia i potrzeba bycia blisko człowieka. Pamiętaj, żeby zabezpieczyć okna i balkon.

About Skrzeczyk

What life with Skrzeczyk looks like

Skrzeczyk is a small senior cat waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

Note from the shelter: FIV and FeLV positive, currently treating mycoplasma infection

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Skrzeczyk, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Skrzeczyk?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Skrzeczyk on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Skrzeczyk if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Skrzeczyk already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Skrzeczyk isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Skrzeczyk and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
