Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Animal Now! Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Dog Now! Smilla didn’t have an easy start in life. Her mother was hit by a car and died. Together with her siblings, she was left alone for several days, having to struggle for survival without their mother. Fortunately, our animal rescuer Natalia found the puppies in time. She took them in, lovingly bottle-fed them, and gave them the chance at a new life. Today, Smilla lives together with her siblings, other dogs, and cats at Natalia’s foster home in Bistrița. There, she shows herself as a friendly, affectionate little dog who is full of puppy-like curiosity. She enjoys human company, loves playing endlessly, and discovers a little more about the world every single day. Smilla gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is already familiar with cats. Growing up right in the middle of a pack, she’s developing into a social and open-minded young pup. Like every puppy, Smilla is still at the very beginning of her life. She’ll need to learn housebreaking, leash manners, how to be left alone, and all the many rules of living together. Of course, little mishaps, chewed-up slippers, and funny puppy antics are part of the deal. Her future family should accompany her with patience, understanding, and a good dose of humor. Puberty will also come along eventually—then rules might be questioned once again, and suddenly the world will seem even more exciting. With loving, consistent training and attendance at a positively oriented dog school, Smilla will have the best possible foundation to grow into a wonderful companion. We’re looking for people who can show Smilla just how beautiful a sheltered dog life can be and lovingly support her as she grows up. Smilla travels to her new home chipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, accompanied by her EU pet passport. Due to her age, she hasn’t been spayed yet. After a positive pre-adoption check, she can be rehomed against a protection fee. Who will give this little puppy lady the happy ending she so richly deserves? Many thanks to our sponsor Tina, who gave Smilla her name and thus enabled her to have a chance at a new life. As of: July 18, 2026

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Smilla

What life with Smilla looks like

Smilla is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Smilla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Smilla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Smilla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Smilla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Smilla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Smilla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Smilla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
