SMULE

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Kitten · 4 months

Smitt and SMULE were caught at a garden center when they were about four months old (born May 25). At that time, they were very scared and needed treatment for lungworm. SMULE was a very scared kitten when she came in after living on the street her whole life with no human contact. She has come along way in foster care but still has a long way to go before she is completely comfortable around people. SMULE is a very curious girl. She forgets what she was afraid of if she finds something that captures her attention. New people are scary, but she must come out to take a look at them from a safe distance. Wool and tins are things she is very fascinated by. If she sees a nest, she can't resist the temptation to take it and run off. She does not do much without full effort, such as running at full speed after a toy she threw down the hall or attacking socks sticking out of a blanket. She has recently learned that being petted is very good, but sometimes it can be too much for her and then she bites. So she needs a home with cat experience, without small children, that don't mind a bite here and there. Also, someone who can continue teaching her that people are not so scary. SMULE needs a calm and mature family, either as an indoor cat with plenty of space to explore, or a single house in a quiet rural area, so she can dare to be a bit outside on nice days.

NO·Show original

About SMULE

What life with SMULE looks like

SMULE is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Bergen in Bergen.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting SMULE, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SMULE?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Bergen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SMULE on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SMULE if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Bergen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is SMULE already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SMULE isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Bergen early rather than rehoming privately; they know SMULE and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
