adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Still. Patient. And for far too long. For a considerable time, the approximately 3-year-old Snoopy has been living in the public shelter of Bistrița. We know nothing about his past – but his cautious nature reveals that close proximity to humans was not a natural part of his life for a long time. The loud, hectic daily life in the shelter is particularly hard for a sensitive dog like Snoopy. And yet something important is happening: Snoopy is making progress. When we take him out of the kennel, he stays calmly still. He doesn't run away. He allows cuddles – carefully, but consciously. He now comes willingly into the run and enjoys the time there with other dogs. He plays, runs, and looks happy for a brief moment. One can see it in his eyes, his whole face smiles ❤️ Back in the kennel, he again shows his sad and hopeless face… One can clearly see: Snoopy wants. He wants contact, he wants to trust – and he tries it, as well as he can, at his own pace. In everyday life, Snoopy remains cautious. When uncertain, he prefers to retreat – never aggressively, always thoughtfully. That's why these quiet moments of closeness are so valuable. They show what potential lies within him when given security and time. With his shoulder height of about 55–60 cm and approximately 25 kg, Snoopy is a medium-sized, young dog with a whole life ahead of him. He needs people who don't push him but can read his subtle signals. People who understand that trust sometimes simply means being there quietly. For Snoopy, we wish for a quiet home or a loving foster home. Patience, empathy, and a structured daily routine are more important than experience. A positively working dog training class could later help him build up more security and gradually expand his world. Snoopy travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He has an EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive foster home experience. Snoopy would also be very happy with a foster home. How long must Snoopy wait until someone says: "Come, I'll take the time for you." Maybe you are that someone? Many thanks, Chris! You gave Snoopy his name. Many thanks, Diana I.! You support Snoopy with a monthly sponsorship! As of: 20.01.

Man merkt deutlich: Snoopy will. Vielen Dank Chris! Du hast Snoopy seinen Namen geschenkt. Vielen Dank Diana I.! About Snoopy

What life with Snoopy looks like

Snoopy is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Snoopy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Snoopy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Snoopy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Snoopy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Snoopy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Snoopy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Snoopy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
