adoption requirements adoption process Adopt now this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Sorcha can travel directly to your final destination! Her story: Bistrita, Romania. Sorcha's luck is immediately apparent upon meeting her: she's just managed to survive with a (okay, black) eye, having been found by a young couple with a broken hind leg in the field about 5 months ago. They brought Sorcha to the nearest veterinarian, who operated on her and now takes care of her aftercare. And Sorcha is making the most of this second chance, growing stronger every day and is already fully mobile. The metal brace used is still visible on X-rays as a reminder of her past. Unfortunately, the couple could not take Sorcha in, so they asked us to find her the best forever home. And here we are: Sorcha will be a medium to large female dog and will therefore require ample space. She also needs a cozy retreat and lots of love on every step of her journey. She meets both dogs and people with great openness and friendliness, making Sorcha a great second dog. Overall, she is still a very young female dog and will have to learn a lot. Occasional mishaps should not be held against her, and she should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. A visit to puppy school can also strengthen the bond and create a beautiful foundation for all the coming happy years. Due to Sorcha's appearance, we cannot rule out guardian or kitchen protection dog genes. In the first year of life, young dogs should be as little alone as possible. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of little rascals upside down. They often forget everything they've learned and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important to consistently but lovingly train her during this phase. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Our Sorcha is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She has an EU pet passport and can travel after a positive foster home would be a crucial first step in a happy future. Could Sorcha be your lucky break? Then we look forward to your inquiry. Many thanks, Claudia D.! You named Sorcha!

Vielen Dank Claudia D.! Du hast Sorcha ihren Namen geschenkt!

About Sorcha

What life with Sorcha looks like

Sorcha is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sorcha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sorcha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sorcha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sorcha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sorcha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sorcha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sorcha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
