Adopt Sotiria

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Sotiria has decided to be brave. The beautiful Sotiria was picked up on the street along with her sister at just 6 months old. No one was interested in them. Both girls were very shy from the start and avoided any contact with humans. At the animal shelter, they felt very comfortable, played together extensively, but remained very reserved. A few months ago, Sotiria's sister died unexpectedly, and from then on, she was alone. She quickly found a connection with other dogs, and thankfully, this gradually encouraged her to take the first steps toward making contact with humans. Her progress now allows Sotiria to take the big step of looking for a permanent family. Sotiria is actually a very cheerful, sunny dog lady. She has a gentle, very loving nature and never wants to be pushy or overly lively. Sotiria's heart blossoms when she can run and play with other dogs outdoors. The contact with her fellow animals is very important for her and a great support in gaining self-confidence. Sotiria has learned to walk on a leash and does so very well already. She is gaining more and more trust in people she knows, while she still responds cautiously and skeptically to strangers. However, this has already improved significantly. Sotiria is now looking for a understanding, calm family with a friendly, confident only dog, who gives her the peace and time she needs to build trust, but also provides security during rehoming. Initially, her humans should not have too high expectations of her, but over time she will thaw and become a loving family dog. The animals are described as they behave in the animal shelter or in foster care. This behavior does not show immediately upon arrival. Some may initially react with fear to the new situation. Animals from the animal protection have all had a past that was mostly unpleasant or cruel. This past cannot be shaken off overnight. They need time to be allowed to arrive and to gain trust. Please be patient and give your pet the necessary time!

About Sotiria

What life with Sotiria looks like

Sotiria is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sotiria, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sotiria?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sotiria on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sotiria if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sotiria already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sotiria isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sotiria and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
