Spike-3

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Spike, a friendly and gentle four-legged friend, arrived at the shelter in Kecskemét on May 13, 2024. Originally rescued from Ukraine by a German organization and brought to safety in Hungary, his past life remains unknown. Since then, Spike has been waiting for a positive change in his life at the shelter. Unfortunately, we cannot alter his past, but his future is very important to us, and we are rooting for him to finally find happiness. Spike enjoys being petted and receiving attention and affection, something he was not used to in his previous life. He is a bit shy at first in new situations, but gains trust when he realizes people have good intentions towards him. Leash walking comes naturally to him, although practice makes perfect, and he is eager to learn with his human companions. Spike lives with German-3 in a two-man flat and gets along well with his fellow canines. We are looking for dog-loving, understanding, and caring people who will give Spike time to settle in. We need loving humans who will take him as a full family member, provide him with suitable exercise, pamper him with affection, and offer the love, care, security, and comfort he has never experienced before. Spike wants to make up for lost time and explore the big wide world after a not-so-happy life. Who can show Spike the bright side of life?

DE·Show original

About Spike-3

What life with Spike-3 looks like

Spike-3 is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Spike-3, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Spike-3?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Spike-3 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Spike-3 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Spike-3 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Spike-3 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Spike-3 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
