Adopt Spot

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

Spot 2-4-2024 Meet Spot, with his three spots, he symbolizes three times the love he has to offer. Spot was found, together with his three sweet sisters, dumped in a box. His sister Lizzy has found a home in the Netherlands, and little sister Juultje lives in the Netherlands. Babetje and Spot stayed on Curaçao. His gentle nature and calm manner make him not only an exemplary teenager, but also a true friend for any animal whose path he crosses. Whether it's pigs, horses or donkeys, Spot radiates love in every interaction. 11-10-2023 Spot, Juultje and Babetje are doing happily. They have some sores under their bellies, but these are well cared for! They are cheerful and full of energy! The brown pup, Lizzy, initially did very poorly. She was dehydrated and completely exhausted. She didn't want to eat or drink and spent most of the day as a sad little pile of pup. She walked very unsteadily and had to rest a long time after walking just a short distance. We were afraid she wouldn't make it... In recent days, we have forced her to take small amounts of food whenever we had free time. For the first few days we even had to support this with injections of fluid, because she wasn't drinking on her own yet and strongly resisted the syringe in her mouth. Otherwise, we mainly gave her a lot of rest to regain strength. Fortunately, she is already much better now! She drinks independently again and walking is already much less wobbly. Since today, she even eats independently again! She's not there yet, but she has the will to live again, so we hope she continues to take small steps forward! 06-10-2023 Today we had another swim walk. Each time it's still exciting, are there new dogs dumped? Do we have to say no again with pain in our hearts because we are really full? On the way back, four motherless puppies ran towards us. Dumped as old trash by humans and still coming to seek help from humans... My head was working overtime... We are really full... Last week two more pups came (Sam and Rijk)... I almost can't handle the work with the current animals... Not to mention the financial part... But how do you say no when four pups weighing less than a kilo run towards you, asking for help...? Leave them to their fate? I couldn't... So here's our new addition... 4 new pups... Why is a Dog Parent at a Distance so Important Our dogs deserve love, care and attention. Mijn hoofd draaide meteen overuren... We zitten bomvol... About Spot

What life with Spot looks like

Spot is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Stichting Pippi in Netherlands.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Spot, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Spot?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Pippi handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Spot on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Spot if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Pippi will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Spot already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Spot isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Pippi early rather than rehoming privately; they know Spot and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
