Sputnik

Mixed Breed Β· Male

AGE: 4-6 years approx BREED: Domestic short hair IDEAL HOME: access to the outdoors LIVING WITH CHILDREN: I could live with children 10 years plus LIVING WITH DOGS: I prefer not to live with dogs LIVING WITH CATS: I would prefer to be the only cat in the household Sputnik is a handsome little man who came into our care after being found straying. He has settled into cattery life with ease and has shown himself to be a friendly, laid-back boy who doesn't seem to let much bother him! Although we are still getting to know him, Sputnik has already made a lovely impression on us. He has taken everything in his stride, and we can imagine that once he has settled into a home of his own and built a bond with his new family, he will blossom into a super-affectionate little companion. Sputnik will need access to the outdoors once he has had plenty of time to settle and feel safe in his new surroundings. His new home must be in a suitable area away from busy roads and heavy traffic to help keep him safe. He could potentially live with children aged 10 years and over, provided they understand that cats sometimes need their own space and are happy to let him approach them in his own time. 🐾 Sputnik's ideal home: A loving family who will give him time to settle into his new surroundings. Outdoor access in a safe area, away from main roads and busy traffic. Children aged 10+ who understand and respect feline boundaries. Plenty of affection, patience and opportunities to build a trusting bond. Sputnik is a lovely, handsome boy with so much potential to become a wonderful companion. Could you be the one to offer this friendly little chap the safe and loving forever home he deserves? ❀️ Interested in adopting Sputnik? Call or contact us.

About Sputnik

What life with Sputnik looks like

Sputnik is an adult mixed breed cat waiting at SARA Ann Prosser Foundation in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction β€” every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sputnik, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sputnik?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SARA Ann Prosser Foundation handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sputnik on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sputnik if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” SARA Ann Prosser Foundation will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Sputnik already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sputnik isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SARA Ann Prosser Foundation early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sputnik and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
