Stella

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Polish English German Stella – a young female sheepdog (approx. 2 years old) – is urgently looking for a new home. She insists that shelter conditions are simply not suitable for such a lovely dog and is really hoping to find someone who can offer more than just a tiny concrete apartment. Stella asks potential interested parties to highlight the following advantages: - Exceptionally calm and composed – I confirm, she may look like a teenager, but she’s actually very balanced on walks; she doesn’t seek trouble, calmly sniffs around, and pays close attention to her surroundings. She prefers leisurely exploring the area to wild antics and walks beautifully on a leash. - People-friendly yet unobtrusive – she accepts touch, grooming, and affection nicely; you can even gently tug her ear (she particularly loves that!) without getting a wild invitation to play or ending up with scratched fingers. - Playful gaze – outwardly calm, but who knows what’s going on inside? Judging by those beautiful hazel eyes with a glint of a hidden spark, Stella might surprise us with a playful temperament lurking beneath her feigned seriousness. - She’s big—not huge, but just right for those who love large dogs but worry they won’t fit in an apartment—she’ll fit perfectly! By the way, she’d also like to pass along a message on behalf of other large dogs: they don’t need a house with a garden—they just need their people, their own little corner. That’s all they really need. - Undeniable beauty—let’s face it, she’s pretty, there’s no hiding it. Slender, tall, well-built, and then there’s that gaze—penetrating, deep. She grabs your eye and your heart. I’ll add something personal too, because she’s a modest dog. Stella is a smart girl, though she doesn’t exactly show off her intelligence. In fact, she’s the type who doesn’t like drawing attention to herself—at least not at the shelter. Dogs like this often hide their strengths from us, as their main focus is survival. When you look at her in her kennel, you see a frustrated creature dreaming only of escaping the kennel, the confinement, and the noise. But as soon as you take Stella for a walk, you see a calm, balanced young lady, curious about the world, cautious when exploring it, friendly toward people, neutral toward other dogs, gentle and welcoming. I believe that in a normal life, once she finds peace, that’s exactly how she’ll be. Want to meet Stella? We invite you to visit the shelter in Choszczno. I’ll gladly help you get acquainted, send photos, and share videos. Due to ongoing legal proceedings, we can currently only place her in a temporary home, which could become permanent after a court decision—if both parties get along well. Interested? I’m here to help—volunteer Karolina—tel/WhatsApp 501051386. If you’d like to support this dog but can’t adopt her, we’d love to have you join our walking team! Every day during these hours. For inquiries about the dog, please contact Karolina at 501051386 or the office at 513 135 375.

Smukła, wysoka, poprawnie zbudowana, i to spojrzenie - przenikliwe, głębokie. Zainteresowani? Jestem do dyspozycji - wolontariuszka Karolina - tel/Whatsapp 501051386 Jeśli chcesz pomóc temu psu, a nie możesz go adoptować- zapraszamy na spacery! Codziennie w godzinach . About Stella

What life with Stella looks like

Stella is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Choszczno in Poland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Stella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Stella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Choszczno handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Stella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Stella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Choszczno will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Stella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Stella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Choszczno early rather than rehoming privately; they know Stella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
