Suri

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Suri lives on a foster home in 42489 Wülfrath.. female dog/castrated born. ca March 2022 Size : ca 33 cm Update 01.04.2026: Sweet Maus is looking for people who will give her security and safety! Suri is a 3-year-old castrated and about 33 cm tall female dog who was found in Patras during the devastating fires last summer. The little Maus was brought to safety and left for her foster mom in Wülfrath in late October. She still waits there for her permanent dog bed. Suri is a little magic mouse who, due to her past, is a bit insecure outside. This especially applies to large trucks and buses, and then Suri will stop and wait until the "danger" has passed. Maybe over time, she will shed this insecurity if she is guided by her people in a safe manner. Suri loves long walks where she can use her snout for biscuit-hunting games. She powers herself up outside and is thus the ideal companion for active people. At home, the little mouse behaves pleasantly quiet, likes to lie in her dog bed, and also remains problem-free when left alone. Of course, she needs to get used to her new home first before she can also be left alone there. Suri is not a barker, but she does give a short bark when the doorbell rings. By now, Suri has learned that balls can also be played with and does this now hesitantly. She needs longer than other dogs to learn many things, but she is eager to learn and her people are needed to introduce her to many things with empathy. Suri is a Leishmaniose dog, but she is well managed through the gift of Allopurinol and purine-free food. Symptoms are not present, and new blood tests need to be done regularly for control. Leishmaniasis does not affect Suri in any way in her life, and she can live as long as any other dog. It is important for Suri to have regular feeding and walking times. Despite her young age, she is also quiet and cannot handle stress. Therefore, we would rather not place Suri in a family with small children. Who would like to give the little sweetie its long-awaited and so deserved home, help her with love and patience to overcome her small insecurities, and enjoy a beautiful life?

About Suri

What life with Suri looks like

Suri is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierfreunde Patras e.V. in Ratingen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Suri, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Suri?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierfreunde Patras e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Suri on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Suri if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierfreunde Patras e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Suri already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Suri isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierfreunde Patras e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Suri and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
