Susi &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 12 years

Susi has moved to our area after 76456 Kuppenheim. All the best, Susi. Heartfelt thanks to Fr. N. Anyone who follows our association regularly has noticed that in the last few weeks, we have faced great challenges. During a visit to Spain, it became clear that a terrible situation existed in a shelter in Huelva. As an Arca-Family, we do not leave dogs in need, even if they are not in the care of our partners. In a short time, a new home had to be found for several dozen four-legged friends. The small association Puntanimals, which runs a family-style animal shelter, has taken in some of the oldest dogs. We are very grateful, but also concerned, because now the small facility is overcrowded – and our seniors unfortunately have the worst chances of finding a proper home quickly. That is why we want to make special efforts for our gray-nosed seniors. When one lets go of the idea that the quantity of days spent with a four-legged friend is more important than the quality of the remaining time one can still give to our Opis or Omis, one quickly realizes how much our lovely retirees still have to give and how much one can learn from them. Susi came to the shelter with two other dogs, from which she was recently taken. The three old four-legged friends had been sitting next to their deceased owner in an apartment, and now it is our task to secure them a beautiful golden age. Susi is about 12 years old but still fit for her age. Of course, she has some little issues; her teeth are not in the best condition, her eyes are a bit cloudy, but Susi still knows exactly what she wants (and can communicate it), still likes to go for walks, is still very decorative on the couch, and can listen and keep secrets well. Our Omi has mammary tumors in both mammary glands, but the veterinarians in Spain advise against an operation. The intervention would be much riskier than the changes themselves – and the tumors have no impact on Susi’s quality of life. For the self-assured Omi Susi, we are looking for the classic place of grace – people who do not start to "mess with her" but help her to have a comfortable, pain-free, and joyful golden age in a foster home atmosphere, loved, spoiled, and tenderly accompanied until the end.

Susi ist nach 76456 Kuppenheim gezogen. Alles Gute Susi. Herzlichen Dank, Fr.

About Susi &#8211

What life with Susi &#8211 looks like

Susi &#8211 is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Susi &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Susi &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Susi &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Susi &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Susi &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Susi &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Susi &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
