Sverre

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Profile: Born around April 2024, Gender: male, neutered: yes, Character: friendly, somewhat reserved, but very curious, Size: approx. 40 cm, In shelter since: March 2025, Siblings: Koba and Yvi My eyes are the windows to my soul – and if you look into mine, you might see a year full of adventure, hunger, and cold. My brother, my sister, and I have survived our first year on the streets of Romania together. We were happy if we had a somewhat secure place to sleep and something to eat at night. But now we are in the safe shelter – my sister has even found her own home in Germany. Now it's time for me and my brother to change our lives again and become part of a family! I am still somewhat reserved in my interactions with you two-legged beings, but at the same time, I am very curious. I am already willing to be petted by my trusted people, but I keep a bit of distance with strangers. However, I show great interest in all the people around me and can be easily bribed with treats. With time, patience, and loving companionship, I will surely learn to trust quickly. I wish for a quiet home where I can settle in at my own pace. Maybe you are the person who will show me how beautiful life can be? If you are interested in Sverre, please fill out our interest form () or send us an email or a message on Facebook. Sverre is ready to travel and can go with the next transport to Germany. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs are neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and they have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months old, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Borreliosis, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariosis, and leishmaniasis. Heidrun L. has taken the paternity for Sverre and ensures a full plate. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

About Sverre

What life with Sverre looks like

Sverre is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sverre, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sverre?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sverre on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sverre if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sverre already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sverre isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sverre and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
