Adopt Honey

Beagle · Female · Senior · 13 years

Honey is a 13 year old Beagle cross Staffie, who is an absolute delight to be around. She definitely takes from her beagle roots and enjoys having her nose to the ground exploring new places. She's at an age where she really enjoys her naps, but has also been enjoying having a mooch in her foster garden! Honey is also a big foodie, loving any tasty treats she has been offered. We can't wait for this gorgeous girl to have the forever she deserves! Miss Honey is a very special girl looking for a very special family to care for her in her golden years. She is looking for owners who are able to give her a sofa to snooze on, and some gentle strolls where she can get to some good sniffs! She's currently living with one of our wonderful foster carers, and likes to follow them around the house, so we can tell human company will be important for her and think her best match would be a home where someone will be around a lot of the time. Honey is housetrained and travels well in the car after an initial period of restlessness. Honey is able to share her home with another dog, however she would prefer any resident dogs to also appreciate life in the slow lane, and not expect too much play from her.

About Honey

What life with Honey looks like

Honey is a large senior beagle dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Honey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Honey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Honey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Honey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Honey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Honey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Honey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
