Syriusz

Male

SYRIUSZ, approx. 3 years old, 616093902907261 (116/25) VACCINATIONS: YES SPAY/NEUTER: YES BOX: 43 Syriusz is a beautiful, strong, black dog whose life has not been easy. He arrived at the shelter in a dramatic state - with a very injured paw. He underwent two surgeries to be able to enjoy walks again. Despite the pain and difficult past, Syriusz still wants to love, but he needs time and a wise guide to help him overcome his past demons. What is Syriusz really like? Syriusz is a dog with two faces - the one hurt by fate and the one that appears when he feels safe. • Loyal friend: To people he meets and trusts, he is incredibly friendly. He demands pets, seeks closeness and wraps himself around them with his whole body. • Lover of activity: He loves long walks, loves water and baths, and playing with toys brings him great joy. • Smart and a student: Syriusz is very intelligent. He is happy to practice commands and work with a person - mental work calms him down perfectly. He generally reacts well to other dogs. What needs to be worked on? (Important information) The basis of Syriusz's behavior is deep fear resulting from bad experiences from the past. • Reaction to strangers: He may react with fear-based aggression towards some unknown people. He needs a caregiver who can read dog body language and provide him with a sense of security, instead of allowing random contact with strangers. • Visits to the veterinarian: Because of the painful history of treating his paw, Syriusz does not tolerate veterinary procedures well. A muzzle is necessary in the clinic, and work on desensitizing medical touch is required. • Strength: He is a physically strong dog, so the future owner must have strength in his hands and practice walking Syriusz on a loose leash with him. What kind of home are we looking for? For Syriusz, we are looking for an experienced, patient and emotionally stable home. The ideal place would be an apartment or house in a quiet area, outside the city center, without young children. Syriusz needs a person who does not give up at the first difficulties, works with a behaviorist and gives him time to adapt. In return, he will gain the most loyal, friend who will look at him all his life. We invite people interested in adopting Syriusz to contact the shelter at 58/522 37 80, (daily from)

SYRIUSZ OK. 3 LATA 616093902907261 (116/25) SZCZEPIENIA: TAK KASTRACJA: TAK BOKS: 43 Syriusz to przepiękny, silny, czarny pies, którego życie dotychczas nie oszczędzało. Trafił do schroniska w dramatycznym stanie – z bardzo poranioną łapą. Przeszedł aż dwie operacje, by dziś móc znowu cieszyć się spacerami. • Wielbiciel aktywności: Uwielbia długie spacery, kocha wodę i kąpiele, a zabawa zabawkami sprawia mu ogromną radość. • Bystrzak i uczeń: Syriusz jest bardzo inteligentny. Chętnie ćwiczy komendy i współpracuje z człowiekiem – praca umysłowa doskonale go wycisza.

About Syriusz

What life with Syriusz looks like

Syriusz is a adult dog waiting at Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk in Gdansk.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Syriusz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Syriusz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Syriusz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Syriusz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Syriusz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Syriusz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk early rather than rehoming privately; they know Syriusz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
