Szarik

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Szarik… a dog with a smile, who can brighten even the cloudiest day. When you look at him, you see joy – a wagging tail, shining eyes, an open heart. It's hard to believe that behind this smile lies a story of abandonment. Someone tied him to a tree and left him. Alone, lost, confused. He could have closed himself off, lost trust, turned away from people. And yet - he chose life. He chose hope. Szarik doesn't dwell on harm. He doesn't know anger or resentment. Instead, he gives smiles and warmth to everyone who approaches him. He loves human presence as if he wanted to say: "Thank you for being. Thank you for being by my side." He is full of energy, curiosity, and joy - there is no room for sadness in his heart. Always ready for a walk, for play, for a moment of closeness. Always ready to love with all his heart. Szarik is proof that dogs have an extraordinary strength - they can forgive and trust, even if someone they loved most let them down. He teaches us that even after the hardest experiences, we can still look to the future with hope and a smile. Looking at Szarik, you don't just see a dog. You see a friend who waits to give someone the most beautiful gift - pure, unconditional love.

Ktoś przywiązał go do drzewa i zostawił. Sam, zagubiony, zdezorientowany. Mógł zamknąć się w sobie, stracić zaufanie, odwrócić się od ludzi. A jednak – on wybrał życie. Widzisz przyjaciela, który czeka, by podarować komuś najpiękniejszy dar – czystą, bezwarunkową miłość.

About Szarik

What life with Szarik looks like

Szarik is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Tomaszów Mazowiecki in Poland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Szarik, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Szarik?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Tomaszów Mazowiecki handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Szarik on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Szarik if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Tomaszów Mazowiecki will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Szarik already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Szarik isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Tomaszów Mazowiecki early rather than rehoming privately; they know Szarik and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
