Taco &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male

Taco now lives in 40468 Düsseldorf. All the best, Taco. Heartfelt thanks, Frau R. Taco is a three-year-old (as of June 2025) Pointer-mixed breed, who immediately wins everyone's hearts with his charming and witty nature. Even at his rescue, he showed that he is a dog full of surprises: he climbed into the car of the animal welfare workers quite naturally after they called him (Taco was taking a deep nap in the middle of the street and wasn't very impressed when he almost got run over by a truck … in stark contrast to the animal protectors of Refugio Kimba!) – as if he knew on that day that it was time to turn a new page in his life. This lovable male dog has an unmistakable silvery gaze and a grin that gets brighter every day. His personality is just as amazing as his looks: Taco is playful, active, and highly intelligent. He loves learning new things and getting physical, which makes him a perfect fit for any form of dog sports. Taco currently lives with other dogs and proves every day how social and uncomplicated he is. He gets along well with his fellow animals and also shows a great love and openness toward people. Although Taco has not met children yet, his open and adaptable nature, along with his quick learning ability, make us confident that he could also harmonize well with people under 1.20m tall, given the right time and patience. Taco has tested negative for Mediterranean diseases, and at Refugio Kimba, they ensure that nothing changes. Taco is in perfect health and has received a pristine health certificate – you can check the condition of his teeth in the photos, as he is more than happy to show them. If you are looking for a relaxed, witty, and at the same time athletic companion who will put a smile on your face every day, then Taco is exactly the right one for you. He eagerly awaits the chance to become part of a loving family that values him just as he is – a unique dog with a heart of gold and a nose for great adventures. Are you ready to solve Taco's ticket to great happiness? Then contact us!

Taco lebt jetzt in 40468 Düsseldorf. Alles Gute, Taco. About Taco &#8211

What life with Taco &#8211 looks like

Taco &#8211 is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Taco &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Taco &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Taco &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Taco &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Taco &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Taco &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Taco &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
