Tadeo &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 9 months

Tadeo is a floppy-eared mix with a pleasant size, currently about 40 centimeters tall and around 13 kilos. He is only 9 months old and brings with him the perfect blend of puppy charm and young dog curiosity, often making one wonder how so much energy fits into such a compact package. His story began rather unglamorously, as he was abandoned as a small furball with his siblings. It is all the more beautiful to see how much trust and joy he still shows despite this. Tadeo is, of course, fully vaccinated, so he is well-prepared for his next big step. Character-wise, Tadeo is a true all-rounder. Play is high on the agenda, as is eating, and sleeping of course, all according to the motto, first play, then refuel. He exudes bravery and meets the new with openness without being reckless. He gets along well with other dogs, making him an interesting candidate for a dog-friendly shared living situation as well as for a household where a four-legged mentor already resides. And then there is his career question. Tadeo is open to almost everything life offers. Maybe he will become a professional couch potato, maybe a more ambitious walking companion, or a nosy hobby sniffer with a nose for work. A career as a serious office dog is not out of the question either, as long as the break schedule is right and his colleagues regularly admire his ears. In short, he brings talent with him, but the script would be better written together with his family. Because Tadeo is still so young, he needs mainly time and patience. A young dog does not come as a fully assembled family member with an instruction manual, but as a full-time apprentice. House training, leash manners, staying calm, being alone, and politely saying hello are things that must be practiced step by step – and every progress should be celebrated. In the first weeks after moving, everything is new: smells, sounds, rules, and people. This can lead to excitement, insecurity, or even creative ideas… This is neither the much-vaunted puberty nor resistance to training or outright mischief, it is simply development and learning. Tadeo is now looking for people who will accept him, give clear, friendly rules, and are eager to guide a young dog through the next developmental stages. Those who expect everything to be in place after three days will be unhappy with every young dog. But those who are willing to stick with it and even laugh at small mishaps will get a loyal companion who learns daily. If you can imagine being Tadeo’s coach, roommate, and favorite person, then getting to know him will be worthwhile. He brings the best prerequisites with him: good social behavior, manageable size, and not least a big heart. The rest will be taken care of by training, everyday life, and a little patience.

DE·Show original

About Tadeo &#8211

What life with Tadeo &#8211 looks like

Tadeo &#8211 is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tadeo &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tadeo &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tadeo &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tadeo &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tadeo &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tadeo &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tadeo &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
