Taimi

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Taimi is a three to four-year-old female dog approximately 60 cm tall with long, shaggy black fur featuring beautiful beige accents, giving her the appearance of a large, cuddly, fluffy mouse. Her name, Taimi, meaning "gentle" or "small delicate bud" in Finnish, suits her perfectly. Taimi is exceptionally gentle and very calm, preferring to observe things rather than being the center of attention. She generally gets along with other dogs but doesn't necessarily seek their company. She is more of a lone wolf and seems content with her own company. Initially, Taimi is cautious around people, needing time to warm up and trust someone. Once she feels comfortable, her gentle side emerges, and she enjoys petting. Currently, Taimi is overweight, and we are investigating potential health reasons. We are checking her legs, as we suspect she may have difficulty standing, and her calm nature could also be a factor. We want to observe Taimi thoroughly and investigate possible physical causes before making any assumptions. It is important for her future owners to know that she may need a bit more attention and patience until we understand the root of her behavior. Taimi spent most of her life outside, not in a warm home, but in the forest. For two years, the forest was her home. Although a woman regularly fed her, it was not a safe or secure home. It is wonderful that Taimi has remained so gentle and friendly despite this past. We are looking for people who appreciate her calm and sensitive nature. Taimi does not need a hectic home or people who try to force her to do things. She needs time, security, and someone to show her that she no longer has to fend for herself. Whoever adopts Taimi should be willing to introduce her to home life slowly and give her the time she needs. She may be a bit reserved at first. She may not immediately get excited and run to her new owners. But once this little, gentle bud has gained trust, she will show how much she enjoys human company. We wish Taimi a quiet, loving home where she can finally feel safe. A home where she doesn't have to endure the forest, but has a warm bed, regular food, security, and most importantly, people who give her time. After two years in the forest, Taimi has finally arrived at a place where her life can begin anew. After a positive preliminary check and a deposit, Taimi can be spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and de-fleaed with an EU pet passport. Thank you to Nadine G.! You gave Taimi her name and identity.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank an Nadine G.! Stand: 28.09.2026

About Taimi

What life with Taimi looks like

Taimi is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Taimi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Taimi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Taimi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Taimi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Taimi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Taimi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Taimi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
