TAJA

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 9 months

Taja's story is a heartbreaking tale of a dog's sensitivity wounded by humans. This remarkable medium-sized female dog is around 6 years old (born around 2020) and carries a powerful burden of very unpleasant experiences from the past. Although a safe shelter has given her a roof over her head, Taja still struggles with deep fears - she is withdrawn, avoids touch and is terrified of direct contact with humans. The most important thing, however, is that in this injured girl there is not a single gram of aggression or anger. Taja reacts to paralyzing fear with complete collapse. Through the bars of the box, she observes the volunteers with a silent plea in her eyes - it is clear that deep in her battered heart, she very much wants to trust again, feel the warmth of a human hand and finally breathe a sigh of relief. What kind of home and guide are we looking for for Taja? Experience and empathy: We are looking for patient, understanding caregivers, preferably with experience in working with fearful or traumatized dogs. Taja needs a guide who will not force anything and will allow her to acclimatize at her own pace. Dream home with a garden: Due to her fears of open, noisy urban spaces, Taja urgently needs a home with a safe, well-fenced garden in a very quiet, peaceful area. A private yard is the only place where she can initially feel freedom, calm down and learn normal life without pressure. Support of a canine resident: This is the key to success! Taja fully accepts other dogs, and their presence gives her a huge sense of security and adds courage in everyday situations. A home with another stable and friendly dog would be the best form of therapy for her - Taja could follow her and break down her inner barriers faster. Adopting Taja is a great challenge, a mission to save a life, and a beautiful opportunity to build an extraordinary, pure relationship based on unconditional trust. This unique female dog has earned her whole life a home where someone will see not only paralyzing fear, but above all a wonderful dog with huge potential to be the most faithful, infinitely grateful companion for years. Give her a safe haven!

Dom z drugim, stabilnym i przyjaznym czworonogiem byłby dla niej najlepszą formą terapii – Taja mogłaby go naśladować i szybciej przełamywać swoje wewnętrzne bariery.

About TAJA

What life with TAJA looks like

TAJA is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting TAJA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about TAJA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw TAJA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt TAJA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is TAJA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if TAJA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know TAJA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
