Adopt Tajga

Mixed Breed · Female

Tajga – a wonderful friend Status: for adoption Tajga is a happy, curious, and full of potential female dog who shows every day how beautiful a relationship she can build with a human - if only given time and space. She is a positive and open dog, but also needs a moment to trust. She won't jump immediately onto laps or allow everyone to touch her - but once she accepts someone, she gives her heart completely. She is stubborn, but extremely grateful and loving. Tajga values the company of other dogs more than people - she thrives in their presence. Her relationships with dogs are great, she likes to play and initiates contact. She ignores cats. She keeps the house clean and signals her needs. She can be left alone without problems, doesn't destroy things, and easily finds her way in the daily routine. She greets guests in the house reluctantly and can bark, reacting to noises on the stairs. On walks she walks nicely on a leash, sniffs a lot, and focuses on her surroundings. She is not a confrontational dog - in difficult situations she seeks support from her handler. She may bark when someone unfamiliar invades her space (especially men and children), but this is a temporary reaction - once the emotions subside, she quickly calms down. She tolerates car rides well. She feels very unsure in urban environments - too many stimuli overwhelm her. Tajga is an active, intelligent, and very eager to learn dog. She loves dog sports, does well in scent work, and has great potential for further development. She has been in a foster home for over a year and during that time has become more confident, although she still needs a patient and aware caregiver who respects her boundaries and helps her build a sense of security. We are looking for a quiet home for her, preferably with another dog who will help her find her way in a new reality. Tajga is not a dog for everyone - but for the right person, she will become an extraordinary, loyal companion ❤️ —- DOG PROFILE —- 🧮 Year of birth: 01/2020 🚻 Sex: female 🐾 Size: medium around 15kg 🏀 Activity: medium ❤️ spayed: yes ℹ️ Chip: yes 💉 Vaccinations: yes ✅ The dog is under the care of the Tricity branch of the Foundation for Puppies Judyta ✅ The dog is in a foster home in the Tricity area and surroundings ✅ Adoption obligation: filling out the questionnaire, pre-adoption visit, and signing the adoption agreement ✅ LINK TO QUESTIONNAIRE:

To pies pozytywny i otwarty, ale jednocześnie potrzebujący chwili, by zaufać. Koty ignoruje. W domu zachowuje czystość i sygnalizuje potrzeby.

About Tajga

What life with Tajga looks like

Tajga is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tajga, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tajga?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tajga on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tajga if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tajga already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tajga isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tajga and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
