Talarek

Male · Senior · 13 years

Talarek is a dog with a baggage of experiences that isn't visible at first glance, but which influences every aspect of his daily life. He is withdrawn, shy, and very cautious around people. Just putting on a leash to take him out of the kennel run can be difficult - stress and fear can take over. In such a critical situation, he may bite. Therefore, we are looking for a home without children, in a quiet, predictable environment. Talarek is not a dog who will jump into your lap immediately. He cannot be petted, he doesn't seek closeness - not yet. It doesn't mean he doesn't want to be loved - it's just that life has taught him that humans are not always safety. And before he trusts, he will need time, patience, and your presence - not pushy, not demanding, but simply consistent. If you're looking for a dog "ready to love" from the first day - this is not the case. Talarek won't greet you wagging his tail, won't lie down next to you after five minutes. It's not a dog that can be let loose in the yard and expect that "it will somehow adapt". He needs a person who understands that the relationship with him needs to be worked on - with calmness, consistency and understanding of his boundaries.

PL·Show original

Talarek to pies z bagażem doświadczeń, którego nie widać na pierwszy rzut oka, ale który wpływa na każdy aspekt jego codzienności. Jest wycofany, lękliwy, bardzo ostrożny wobec ludzi. Samo założenie smyczy, by wynieść go poza kojec, bywa trudne – stres i strach potrafią wziąć górę.

About Talarek

What life with Talarek looks like

Talarek is a small senior dog waiting at Funny Pets Czartki in Poland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Talarek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Talarek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Funny Pets Czartki handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Talarek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Talarek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Funny Pets Czartki will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Talarek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Talarek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Funny Pets Czartki early rather than rehoming privately; they know Talarek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
