Talea

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 11 years

I am female, spayed, and born in 2013. I have been waiting for a new home since June 2015. This is what my caretakers say about me: Talea is a surrendered cat from the countryside. She arrived with her sister Tina, who has already been adopted. So far both lived in dog company. She is affectionate and cuddly, compatible with other cats and a modest little cat. Talea comes from pure apartment living, but would also enjoy a life as a free-roaming cat later on. Preferably with another cat. Although she is "only" a black cat with a white chest spot, she has an unmistakable look resembling that of an owl, making her special. If there are already cats present, she would certainly adapt well, needing a few days to adjust. Initially, she is a bit shy. Children should have the appropriate understanding, then Talea can also be placed in a family. Anyone interested in the small Talea is welcome to visit us and experience how intense Talea's gaze can be... The descriptions are impressions and recordings of the animal in our animal shelter and our foster homes. Each animal may develop differently in its new home.

Bisher lebten beide in Hundegesellschaft.

About Talea

What life with Talea looks like

Talea is a small senior mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Talea, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Talea?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Talea on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Talea if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Talea already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Talea isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Talea and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
