TANITA

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Hello, I am TANITA, a young female dog, people-oriented and clingy❣ My life didn't start off very well. Someone abandoned me at the edge of the woods. There, other dogs lived, which were regularly fed by a kind woman. Every day I went there because I was hungry, but I longed for closeness and security even more. One day, I mustered the courage to follow the woman's car. I ran after her until her house. She didn't send me away. Instead, she set up a safe cage for me, took care of me, and had me neutered. Thanks to her, I survived the cold winter. But my luck wasn't lasting. In the spring, a neighbor got upset that I sometimes wandered into his garden. He took me with him and abandoned me in the woods again. Once more, I was alone. The woman who had saved me searched for me for a long time and didn't give up. Finally, she found me and brought me back to her home. Back then, however, I wasn't doing well: I had a serious eczema on my tail, which needed treatment. With a lot of patience and care, I was able to heal. Now everything is healed, and I am ready for the next step – my own family. I am a very people-oriented female dog and love being close to people. Right now, I live with children, cats, and other dogs, and get along with all of them. I am friendly, clingy, and enjoy every bit of attention I receive. Now, I wish for people who will take me in forever, give me security, and never leave me alone again. Maybe my home is waiting for me?

About TANITA

What life with TANITA looks like

TANITA is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. in Waakirchen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting TANITA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about TANITA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw TANITA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt TANITA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is TANITA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if TANITA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know TANITA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
