Adopt LUCINA

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

LUCINA – brave little mini-girl dog is looking for love in her life❣ I am small, delicately built, and look a bit like a dachshund girl – short legs, big eyes, a hopeful gaze. But my story is bigger than what you can see. I was abandoned on the outskirts of town, on the pier heading towards Brăila. Beside me was a big dog, just as lost as I was. We were alone, vulnerable – and then the hyenas came. I was so scared. I didn’t know if we would make it through the night, if anyone would even look for us. But someone saw us. Someone didn’t look away. Someone took us seriously. A kind woman discovered a social media post about us – and she was moved. She took me in, gave me a warm spot, food, safety… and for the first time in a long while, the feeling that my life doesn’t have to end somewhere. Since then, I have slowly learned that not all people are dangerous. That hands can also stroke. That closeness is beautiful. That it’s okay to let go when you feel safe. I am friendly, gentle, and full of love – even though my heart still bears a few scars. All I wish for more than anything is a home where I can truly belong. People who won’t give me up. People who will show me how wonderful a dog life can be when you are loved. I am small, but my wish is big: a happy ending. A person who sees me. A home that stays. Maybe you are exactly the person who will show me that my story doesn’t end with fear – but with love. Can I find my forever home with you?

About LUCINA

What life with LUCINA looks like

LUCINA is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. in Waakirchen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting LUCINA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about LUCINA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw LUCINA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt LUCINA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is LUCINA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if LUCINA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know LUCINA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
