Ted

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

This is little Frenchie Ted who's ready to be loved after a life that didn't get off to the happy start that every dog deserves. He came into Saving and Rehoming Strays in Ayr, Scotland from a local pound following his seizure by the Metropolitan Police as part of a cruelty case. Fred is an 8 year old French Bulldog and it was clear he'd endured a great deal of neglect. His little body was covered in fleas and he was suffering from a severe flea allergy. His skin was red, sore and painfully itchy, and he'd lost much of the fur across his back and around his face. Despite everything he'd been through, Ted's gentle nature still shone through and, fast forward to today, this handsome little man is a completely different dog. Ted is exceptionally affectionate and loving and likes nothing more than cuddles and human company. He's good with other dogs and walks beautifully on the lead. He's calm, sweet and easy to live with and loves being close to his favourite person. He thrives on companionship and is happiest when he's close to the person he loves. A calm home where he can continue to feel safe, secure and cherished would be everything this little boy has ever dreamed of. Although Ted gets along well with other dogs, he'd probably truly flourish as an only dog where he doesn't have to share his favourite person's attention. His perfect home would ideally be with a single person, preferably a lady, who is looking for a devoted little companion. Someone who is home for much of the day would suit Ted perfectly, as he simply loves being part of everyday life and doesn't ask for much more than a comfy bed, gentle walks and plenty of cuddles. Ted can sometimes bark when meeting strangers, but this isn't aggression and is simply his way of letting everyone know they're there. Once he realises everything is okay, his lovely personality quickly takes over. Ted is proof that kindness can change a life and, despite the neglect he suffered, he hasn't lost his trust in people. Instead, he greets each day with a wagging tail, a hopeful heart and an endless supply of love to give. Ted isn't looking for a life of excitement or adventure; he's looking for his person. Someone who will adore him just as much as he'll adore them. After everything this little boy has endured, he truly deserves his own loving, forever home. Ted has now been fully assessed by the Vet, has been castrated, is responding brilliantly to treatment and his beautiful coat is growing back nicely. Best of all, his happy, affectionate personality is beginning to shine brighter every day. Let's make sure the rest of Ted's story is filled with nothing but love, comfort and happiness. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Could you give Ted his happy-ever-after ending? About Ted

What life with Ted looks like

Ted is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ted, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ted?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ted on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ted if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ted already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ted isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ted and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
