The son of our rescuer Matild found two small puppies at the edge of the village in mid-August. One of them was Tike, named after him. The puppies were allowed to come home, but because every room already had dogs and cats, the two little ones had to wait in the bathroom for the first few hours until Matild came home and made a spot for them. The puppies received their first vaccinations and later both became sick. The little female died. Tike fought for his life, and Matild sat by his side day and night. Tike was on an IV, didn't eat for ten days and lost a lot of weight. But in the end, the little hero made it, to everyone's joy. Although very thin, he was out of danger. He is eating well again, and it's just a matter of time before he regains his strength. His interest in his surroundings has definitely returned, and his first meeting with one of the cats in the house was already very interesting. Update January 25: Tike is now developing into a nice, loving, and playful teenager. He enjoys himself well with the other dogs in the shelter and becomes completely happy with a ball. But he has also learned to walk on a leash and knows some commands. When rescuer Matild is at home, he is sometimes allowed inside and thus learns a bit about life at home. Update April 2026: In April 2026, our volunteers went to Romania, where they personally met Tike. Tike was quickly friendly and made a pleasant impression immediately. He has a beautiful head with expressive eyes that you instantly fall for. Moreover, he wanted to play with his ball and you could even do a kind of catch game with him, which he enthusiastically participated in. Rescuer Matild also showed the tricks that Tike can already do, such as sit, lie down, and shake. Tike radiated pleasure and visibly enjoyed the attention. Additionally, he is afraid of nothing and approaches new situations curiously and happily. Truly a really lovely dog to be around. He has now had all his vaccinations and this lively dog can now travel. Of course, we hope that a kind adopter will soon come who will accompany Tike through the rest of his life. Because Tike certainly deserves a good life as a beloved pet after his difficult start. De zoon van onze rescuer Matild vond half augustus 2 kleine puppy's aan de rand van het dorp. Eentje daarvan was Tike, die naar hem vernoemd is. De puppy's mochten mee naar huis, maar omdat in elke kamer al honden en katten zaten moesten de 2 kleintjes de eerste uren in de badkamer wachten totdat Matild thuis kwam en een plekje voor ze vrij maakte. De hondjes kregen de eerste vaccinaties en werden daarna helaas allebei ziek. Het kleine teefje overleed. Tike vocht voor zijn leven, Matild zat dag en nacht bij hem. Tike lag aan het infuus, at 10 dagen niet en verloor veel gewicht. Maar uiteindelijk heeft de kleine held het gehaald tot iedereens vreugde. Weliswaar broodmager, maar buiten gevaar. Hij eet nu weer goed en het is een kwestie van tijd totdat hij weer aangesterkt is. Zijn interesse in zijn omgeving is in ieder geval terug en de eerste ontmoeting met een van de katten in huis vond hij toch ook al heel interessant. Update januari 25: Tike ontwikkelt zich inmiddels tot een mooie, lieve en speelse puber. Hij vermaakt zich prima met de andere honden in de shelter en met een balletje wordt hij helemaal gelukkig. Maar hij heeft ook al geleerd aan de lijn te lopen en kent enkele commando's. Als de rescuer Matild thuis is mag hij ook af en toe naar binnen en leert zo een beetje het leven in huis kennen. Update april 2026: In april 2026 gingen onze vrijwilligers naar Roemenië, waar zij Tike persoonlijk hebben leren kennen. Tike was snel vriendelijk en maakte direct een leuke indruk. Hij heeft een prachtig koppie met sprekende ogen waar je meteen voor valt. Daarnaast wilde hij graag spelen met zijn bal en kon je zelfs een soort overgooi-spelletje met hem doen, waar hij enthousiast aan meedeed. Rescuer Matild liet ook de trucjes zien die Tike al kan, zoals zit, lig en poot. Tike straalde plezier uit en genoot zichtbaar van de aandacht. Bovendien is hij nergens bang voor en stapt hij nieuwsgierig en vrolijk op nieuwe situaties af. Echt een ontzettend leuke hond om bij in de buurt te zijn. Hij heeft inmiddels alle vaccinaties gehad en deze kanjer mag nu reizen. We hopen natuurlijk dat er snel een lieve adoptant komt die Tike door zijn verdere leven begeleidt. Want een mooi leven als geliefde huishond heeft Tike zeker verdiend na zijn moeilijke start.
