Tilda

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Mixed breed born in January 2023, approximately 34cm tall. Compatible with: male dogs and female dogs, cats and children have not been tested yet. Tilda is a small female Terrier mix who stands out immediately with her fluffy coat and affectionate gaze. Her dark button eyes radiate curiosity and gentleness – as if she is cautiously questioning everyone she meets whether they mean her well. And that’s what makes her so special: Despite everything she has experienced, she has preserved her friendliness and openness. The young female dog currently lives at our friends’ place in an animal shelter in Portugal. There, she shows herself to be uncomplicated and social – getting along well with other dogs, and also meeting people kindly and attentively. She seeks closeness without being intrusive, and seems like a little soul that just wants to belong. In her previous life, Tilda likely experienced something terrible – she probably came into contact with fire, which can still be seen on some parts of her body. Yet instead of retreating, she hasn’t let her zest for life fade away. It is touching to see how much confidence she carries within herself and how ready she is to welcome new people into her life. Tilda is small, delicate, and at the same time incredibly strong. She deserves a home where she is not only safe but also loved – with patience, warmth, and plenty of heart. People who show her that the past is over and that now begins a new chapter full of security and beautiful moments. One simply wants to protect her, give her a soft dog bed, and return a piece of happiness to her each day. Tilda will thank you for it with her quiet, loyal manner and become a wonderful companion. Who will show this brave little female dog that after experiencing all this, the beautiful sides of life finally await her? Tilda is obviously microchipped, vaccinated, spayed, registered, and has been checked by a veterinarian. Additionally, she has been tested for Mediterranean diseases and will come with an EU vaccination passport to her new home. We have combined all the pictures we have of Tilda into a slideshow above. Mischling geb. About Tilda

What life with Tilda looks like

Tilda is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. in Essingen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tilda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tilda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tilda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tilda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tilda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tilda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tilda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
