Adopt Tilly

Mixed Breed · Female

Tilly arrived in our care in early July having found herself alone following the passing of her beloved owner. We’re not actually sure how long she was left alone in the home however she was rescued via the RSPCA Inspectorate. Shell shocked and bemused, we did all we could to get Tilly into a foster environment as quickly as possible so she could try and settle and get used to her new way of life. Not only has she lost the one and only person she knew and loved, she has also lost her home and everything that was familiar to her. Tilly is approximately eight years old and, as you can see from the video below, she has been very much loved. However, she is severely overweight which is having a huge impact on her quality of life. Our wish is to get Tilly into a quiet home as soon as possible, where she can begin to forge relations with a new family who will keep in touch with us and keep us updated on her weight loss progress. She will need encouragement to play and move, slowly building up her stamina and will need to be kept on a strict diet, with treats kept to a very minimum. We can’t bear the thought of Tilly going through any more upheaval so we’re keen for her to not get too settled in foster care - another move could feel devastating for her. We are happy to work very closely with anyone who would like to offer Tilly a home and, as with all of our adoptions, we will be on hand for advice and guidance throughout. If you feel you could be the person to give Tilly the home she so desperately needs and deserves, please do get in touch. Her journey will be an absolutely beautiful one and we can’t wait to see her flourish! We will consider all rehoming enquires on a case-by-case basis however no busy roads please, unless you’d consider cat proofing or a catio. If you think you could offer this gorgeous girl her forever home, please complete our adoption form. Please note with the increase in cost of veterinary treatment we now require adopters to take out relevant insurance - we will provide more information during the adoption process. Every cat deserves the opportunity to be provided with the required veterinary treatment should they need it during times of illness or injury. About Tilly

What life with Tilly looks like

Tilly is a extra-large adult mixed breed cat waiting at RSPCA Stourbridge and District in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tilly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tilly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Stourbridge and District handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tilly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tilly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Stourbridge and District will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tilly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tilly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Stourbridge and District early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tilly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
