Timi

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Timi is a handsome male dog, born on September 10, 2023, who stands about 65 centimeters tall and weighs 28 kilograms, making a strong impression. He is likely a German Wirehaired Pointer mix, and it is also possible that a livestock guardian dog is part of his ancestry. The result is certainly very successful. Timi is definitely one of those dogs that makes you look twice, and on the third look, you probably start wondering if there's still room on the sofa. His history is unfortunately less beautiful. Timi was traveling alone and had a very painful ligament tear in his leg. He has since been operated on and can lead a normal, active dog life again. In addition, the globetrotter probably had an unpleasant encounter with procession moths. As a result of the injury, a toe had to be amputated. However, you don't notice this at all when Timi conquers the world at full speed, he has no limitations and runs completely pain-free. Our fluffy goofball shows himself to be loving, friendly, and extremely sympathetic to humans. He is active and could be a good fit for a younger or active family, also for a family with children. However, it is important that his future people have dog experience and are willing to give him clear, reliable orientation. Timi is not a dog that leaves decisions to others. If no one takes the lead, he is quite willing to take over himself (which the HSH genes very likely make). He brings self-confidence and a certain natural authority with him. Therefore, he needs calm, confident people who act friendly, consistently, and fairly. People who show him that he is not responsible for everything and can leave responsibility in good conscience. With clear rules, reliable processes, and a secure bond, Timi will be able to learn to relax and orient himself towards his people. Timi can get along well with other dogs. He currently lives with submissive females and also accepts males, as long as they are rather submissive. However, with self-confident fellow species, there could be discussions about who takes the lead. Cats should not live in his future home. We are looking for a home for Timi with responsible people who appreciate his friendly side as well as his strong character. He wants to be busy, moved, and taken seriously, without making every everyday situation a fundamental debate. Whoever accompanies Timi with patience, clarity, and humor will get a beautiful, affectionate, and active companion who has already survived a lot and should finally arrive. Timi does not need people who want to train him, but friends he can trust. Then, the self-appointed security chief can simply become a beloved family member.

DE·Show original

About Timi

What life with Timi looks like

Timi is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Timi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Timi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Timi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Timi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Timi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Timi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Timi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
